What is Houston Quilt Market?

What is Houston Quilt Market?

What is Quilt Market, and how can I attend? I used to ask myself these questions, and I'm sure you've been wondering the same things.

 Wholesale Trade Show

The actual name is International Quilt Market, a wholesale-only trade show for the quilting, textile, and soft crafts industry. This is where your local quilt stores can purchase items to carry in their stores. There are requirements to enter this show. You can attend as a buyer or as a designer by submitting the required documents.

Quilt pattern designers (like the QDC) visit store buyers who might be interested in carrying our patterns, and fabric designers meet with the art directors from fabric companies to show their work.

One really cool part is you might run into one of your favorite designers while you are there. It's so fun to turn around and see the person you've been following on Instagram forever is right behind you.

Sondrasa from Art Quilts by Design, Stephanie Organes from PrettyPleaseMx, Susan from Studio708, AND looks who's in the back - Brandon Mably from FreeSpirit Fabrics.

My favorite moment was meeting Tula Pink and getting her to sign my bag! How awesome is that?

TJ Wright is in the Valdani booth doing demonstrations and promoting her threadscape kits.

Tracy Perks from Rope and Anchor Trading Co. selling her patterns at market.

On to the part that anyone can attend.

The International Quilt Festival is the largest annual quilt show in the U.S. and takes place each fall in Houston, Texas. Sometimes, people refer to this as Quilt Festival, and anyone can attend.

This event offers lots of fun shopping! Over 700 booths will sell quilts, fabric, supplies, and crafts. There will also be 350 classes and lectures for all experience levels.

Festival features more than 1,200 quilts and unique works of textile art on display.

If you would like to submit a quilt for 2025 check out these requirements.

Here are some of my favorites from last year. I apologize for not taking down the information to share with you.

Here are a few moments of a Schoolhouse session with Tula Pink and Stephanie Organes

Take a look at all the fun times we had while there.

It is a lot of fun.  You should grab a friend or two and head to Houston!
